Maharaja Agrasen was a legendary Indian king (Maharaja) of Agroha, a city of traders. The Agrawal and Agrahari communities are descendents from him. He is credited with the establishment of a kingdom of traders in North India named Agroha, and is known for his compassion in refusing to slaughter animals in yajnas. Maldives Government has issued a beautiful stamp on Maharaja Agrasen to commemorate Maharaja Agrasen’s contribution to the society in terms of following peace, non-violence & abolishing animal sacrifice. The stamp has been issued under the series of “Inventions and Explorations” along with other personalities such as Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Christopher Columbus, Charles Darwin & Valentina Tereshkova. The stamp has been issued viewing the increasing trade relationship between India & Maldives, and to highlight the main business community in the country with age-old history. This stamp project had been envisaged & proposed by Mr. Dinesh Mittal, Chairman of Mittal Appliances Limited, Indore. The stamp has been designed by Mr. Alok K Goyal of A G Impex, Kolkata, with many unique features on it.

- Affixed with 4 (four) Crystals
- Major portion decorated with Gold Foil
- Odd and Unusual Shape of the Stamp of a Kalash (Urn) - first of its kind in the history of Stamps worldwide
- The Miniature sheet of this stamp is also of an unusual shape
- Each Miniature sheet is numbered individually
- A limited number of 1200 pcs released only out of which 1000 pcs are for Indian market
- An unique special folder with Gold foiling in unusual shape has also been designed to keep the miniature sheet safely in it
- This folder opens as window and explains various aspects and details of Maharaja Agrasen & Agrawal Community
